Bubble trial in Waikawa

Back in February we wrote about new potential solutions for structures, including air bubbles as antifoul, being explored through the Marine Biosecurity Toolbox research program.

We are excited to report that Cawthron Institute’s Dr Grant Hopkins and his team are currently trialling a new antifouling technology at Waikawa Marina in Picton that involves installing bubble machines underneath the marina structure to disturb the water and prevent organisms from settling on surfaces. So far it's showing great promise and Stuff recently reported on the pilot.
